Creating a New Library
When students from the secondary school in Timișoara, Romania, come back from summer vacation, they will find a beautiful new reading corner awaiting them. Ten volunteers from the Waterford Research Romania Company dedicated time after work to design and decorate a library for the students during the holiday.
This new library benefits over 300 students, including students involved in United Way Romania’s “Learn to Succeed” Initiative. Before beginning the painting, the school polled students about their favorite fictional characters. Using their answers, the volunteers incorporated frequently mentioned characters into the library’s mural. This attractive and comfortable space is the perfect place for students to discover a love for reading.
Waterford Research Romania has partnered with United Way Romania for volunteering opportunities since 2017. At the same school, they painted two classrooms. In a village outside Timișoara, they created a playground with slides, sandpits, flowers, and more. For the past three years, they have also donated 180 licenses to Waterford Early Learning Software.
