Reforesting Gambia
In the Republic of the Gambia, GreenUp Gambia has initiated a mission to promote eco-consciousness and climate awareness in rural areas, as well as replanting degraded and deforested land in the country. Kemo Fatty drew upon his childhood experiences coupled with recognition of the current climate state to take the initiative and start GreenUp. Through his leadership and the actions of passionate volunteers, GreenUp has reforested over 15 hectares of land with 24,000+ trees. Recently, Kemo has been awarded the Points of Light Award – a recognition of outstanding individual contribution to volunteer work and active involvement in the volunteer community.
